I am into food that comes fast just not the kind that comes out of the little window on the side of a building. So I don’t frequently drive through these establishments, but I was hungry this week and almost late for a meeting, so I stopped. I ordered a 7-layer and while waiting in my car outside that little window I listened to the conversation between the two young ladies preparing my lunch. The employee who had taken my money reported that she had this week been concerned about her life and had sought out a reading from Tarot Cards for direction. She “discovered” that her life would be successful in the end, but for the now she will go through the loss of close friends and finances while experiencing confusion and frustration. She seemed relieved.

I wonder who she lives next to, who she works next to, who she goes to school next to, who she is in line next to… and I wonder if any of those people next to her will make any effort to give her the real answers. The answers that the one reading her the Tarot cards will never give her.

According to the great cloud of witnesses, the future is anything but dark for us… when we are “looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.” (Hebrews 12:1-2)

Wait. It’s not just the girl at Taco Bell that the one behind the spurious reading is working on. You also are the target of a very evil empire. He will sooth your sorrows in a million ways. But there is only One who will take care of them… Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you.” (Ps. 55:22)

Look to Jesus… and tell the girl next to you… about Jesus.
